A Star is born – Star Container Logistics was the name under which Steven Been & Arjan Gorter wanted to start up a new transport company. However, after enquiring at the Chamber of Commerce in Rotterdam, it appeared that this name was already in use with a Danish shipping company who have the star symbol painted on the sides of their containers.

But, in order to keep the word STAR (STeven / ARjan) a creative solution was found by translating the word Star into Latin: Stella!

On 2 June 2003, Arjan and Steven started up their business in small premises (former dwelling house) on the Kinsbergenstraat in Rotterdam-Heyplaat.

With almost 20 year’s experience in container transport, this has been an excellent move for Steven Been to apply all his experience to his own company. Arjan Gorter’s passion, and his five year’s experience, together help shape what is Stella Container Logistics b.v. This has paid off from the word go in the form of explosive growth in customers and new charters.

As well as this ideal duo, and with regard to the operational side of the business, Stella Container Logistics b.v. has had Hans Gorter working in the team since September 2003. Hans is responsible for the finance department and since I January 2005 has also been a shareholder in the company.

With the passing of the years since its inception, Stella Container Logistics b.v. has become a solid company where all the ins and outs of the trade are well known!
